Honestly, I'm a little bizarre. I know most people make New Year's Resolutions, but I forgot. So I'm going to make a February resolution instead: post more (much more!) on this silly little excuse for a weblog. It's getting ridiculous, and I'm sick of making excuses.
I don't know when it first became official news, but I was very sad to hear that Pyra, the company behind Blogger (a lovely little tool that powers this blog and thousands of better blogs), is going out of business. You can read the whole story here, on Evhead, which is the personal weblog of Pyra's co-founder. Meg, Pyra's other founder, also wrote about leaving Blogger; her account was actually rather upsetting. (Her blog is one of my favorites-- check it out.) I was very sad to hear the news, myself, because I honestly think that Blogger was a great idea. Oh well. It's still working, lucky for me.
As for my life, suburban monotony has taken over, but almost in a nice, familiar kind of way. I started reading a book that seems really good, Singing in the Comeback Choir by Bebe Moore Campbell. I'm only on page four (I really just started it), but there's something about it that's very readable... if I could describe a book as "charismatic" (though I realize that doesn't make a whole lot of sense), I think that's how I'd describe this book so far. From what I've read about it, it's about a very driven woman who must take time out of her life to take care of her grandmother, who used to be a singing star. The book chronicles their relationship, and the protaganist coming to terms with the disintegration of her grandmother and her old neighborhood. Hmmm. The way I've described it, I think it must sound fairly boring. Oh well. It's not. It moves quickly. I'd say this is probably a woman book though. (If you think that exists, which I do, feminist though I am.:-)
Anyway, I'll continue blogging as long as Blogger will let me. Maybe longer. We'll see.
